The Family Camping Checklist (Nothing Forgotten)

A little planning can make a day outdoors feel more relaxed. Use this checklist as a starting point, then adjust it for the weather, your destination and the people joining you.

For a picnic or easy day out

  • Water, snacks and any personal medicines.
  • A picnic blanket, sun protection and a light extra layer.
  • Comfortable clothing and footwear suited to the ground and weather.
  • A charged phone, a route plan and a small first-aid kit.
  • A bag to take rubbish home.

Explore our picnic blankets, clothing and footwear if you are filling a gap in your kit.

If children are coming along

A familiar comfort item, a change of clothes and regular breaks can help everyone enjoy the day. A children's camera can be a fun way to notice the little things. Follow the individual product's age guidance and charging instructions, and supervise younger children.

Planning an overnight stay?

Check the campsite rules and forecast. You may need a suitable tent, sleeping bags and pads, lighting, cooking equipment and enough water. These are general planning suggestions; they are not a statement that every item is available in our store. Follow the equipment maker's instructions and local fire restrictions.

A final check before you leave

Share your plans with someone, check opening times and give each person a small packing task. If you would like help choosing an item from our store, our team is happy to help.
